The census data can facilitate research, discussion, planning, policy formulation and decision-making within the Government and in the community, particularly in such areas as education, housing, transport, medical and social services. The two largest non-Chinese ethnic groups in Hong Kong were Filipino and Indonesian, representing 2.7% and 1.9% of the population respectively.
